About Us
Who We Are
Creative Connections is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit international cultural exchange organization. We create and facilitate innovative arts-based exchanges between classrooms in the US and their peers around the world.
Our mission is to educate young people by encouraging their awareness, understanding, and appreciation of other cultures, as well as their own.
We believe that cultural awareness is an essential element of every child’s education in an increasingly interconnected world. Our programs build bridges between students in the USA and their international peers through the exchange of arts and ideas. These exchanges teach cultural literacy and promote appreciation for other cultures, customs and traditions.
Currently, our programs include:
- Five versions of ArtLink, our classroom-to-classroom international art exchange program.
- The International Young Performers’ Tour, bringing talented student performers from around the world to perform in local U.S. schools
- Live class-to-class videoconferencing
- In-classroom "Discovering World Cultures Through Art" workshops
Our programs are designed for students to gain cultural literacy:
- To be introspective about their culture and their place in it
- To communicate key aspects of their culture using art
- To understand through their partner’s art the realities that exist in their partner’s world
- To discover and explore the values that underlie the surface aspects of culture
- To conceive thoughtful questions for their partners
- To communicate directly with global peers
- To dialogue with the partner class to better understand their culture
- To appreciate the cultures of students participating from all countries in the ArtLink program
